DEARBORN, MI - The American Arab and Muslim Political Action Committee (AMPAC) announced last week it has endorsed Green Party candidate Dr. Jill Stein for President of the United States. This follows closely on the Oct. 7 endorsement of the Abandon Harris campaign and is reflective of the Stein campaign’s growing support in the Arab and Muslim communities.
“This election cycle presents unique challenges, prompting AMPAC to reassess its traditional support for candidates from the two major parties,” AMPAC wrote in its endorsement announcement. “After extensive dialogue with both the Harris and Trump campaigns, we found no commitment to addressing the urgent concerns of our community, particularly the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, the West Bank, and Lebanon. The need for a ceasefire remains paramount for Muslim and Arab American voters, yet neither campaign has offered a viable solution.
“Given this context,” the announcement continues, “AMPAC has chosen to endorse Dr. Jill Stein of the Green Party. Our decision is based on her steadfast commitment to peace, justice, and a call for immediate ceasefires in conflict zones. This endorsement reflects our values and priorities, rather than any consideration of gender or faith.”
Dr. Stein is currently on the ballot in 38 states and running write-in campaigns in another eight states, plus DC, representing a total of 510 potential electoral votes, more than enough to secure the presidency. In recent polling, Stein was tied with Kamala Harris among Muslim voters overall, and was the favored choice of Muslim voters in several states including Michigan, Arizona, and Wisconsin.
In accepting the announcement, Dr. Stein said, “We are very happy to have AMPAC’s endorsement and support. Following the endorsements of Abandon Harris and the Muslim American Public Affairs Council, this is further confirmation that our campaign’s message is resonating with the Arab and Muslim voters who reject genocide. I’ve spoken to many of them who have family and friends in Gaza and the wider Middle East, and I know they are looking for an alternative to the AIPAC-backed parties of war and Wall Street, who serve the war machine and not the people of the United States.
Further, said Stein, “I know from speaking with people on the campaign trail — from Michigan to Minnesota, Texas to Illinois — that there are many like-minded voters of conscience who are resisting the propaganda that tells them to hold their noses and vote for genocide. They know that voting for genocide simply makes them enablers of it and I am so proud to be the candidate that allows them to vote with their humanity intact.”
“This endorsement from AMPAC,” Stein concluded, “is just further indication that this campaign is building a base of voters who have looked at the two corporate-backed options and thought to themselves: We can do better.”
